During this edition of the festival, for the first time the Immersion Award in the “Student Work” category will be awarded. It will go to one of the young artists whose works will be entered in the competition and presented at the VR experience exhibition on December 11–12 at the Kruczkowski Hall in the Palace of Culture and Science.
The purpose of the competition is to identify and reward the most talented creators from among the academic community, whose interests and passion revolve around new media, and whose projects combine art, education, social sensitivity and technological innovation in the XR area.
We wish to popularize ambitious, cutting-edge student creativity among the general public, and to give the creators themselves a voice during a dedicated reportage, which will be one of the prizes in the competition.
This year we have invited 6 universities to join the project: Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, Film School in Lodz, Lodz University of Technology, Polish-Japanese Academy of Computer Technology and Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznań. An open call for applications from all universities in Poland and V4 countries is planned for next year.
The annual competition exhibitions are intended to become a meeting place for young artists – students – and their academic supervisors in the years to come, and a source of mutual inspiration and exchange of experiences.
There are plans to expand the group of participants to include international students. There are also plans to organize a student exchange, during which a work in XR technology will be created and premiered at the next edition of the Immersion Festival.
The public will also award its prize.
